What is ‘boat coding’ and why is it so important?

Any boat used for charter (or any alternative commercial operation) will need to have been coded by the owner. Coding certification is a measure enforced by the MCA to ensure that any boats used commercially are safe to take afloat and meet legal requirements.

Quite simply, if you receive payment for the use of your vessel or by an individual sailing with you then this is classed as commercial use and will need to adhere to the MCA Code of Practice (MGN280)

Amateur Boating Photographer 2022

 

Congratulations to Natasha, our Marketing Assistant who has been awarded Amateur Boating Photographer of the Year with Stoneways Marine. Depicting 'Life Onboard' as the subject matter, Natasha submitted an image of Andy skippering a corporate charter with Ridge employees last season. Her photograph will be featured both in Yachts and Yachting Online and on the Stoneways online gallery. Alongside being featured in the Stoneways Marine annual calendar 2023.

CEMEX proposals for Quarry in Hamble.

CEMEX UK Operations Ltd, one of the world’s largest suppliers of construction materials has proposed Quarry plans for the extraction of minerals at the Hamble Airfield site, sparking heavy opposition from the local community in Hamble and beyond.
