Festive Sailing Inspiration!

The Solent area is steeped in history and natural beauty, with picturesque ports, beautiful sailing areas and a wealth of activities in it's many harbours and estuaries.  Shelter from the Isle of Wight results in calm waters and a perfect sailing breeze on all but the most extreme weather days. We've handpicked some locations only a few hours sail to help inspire you over the festive season!

LYMINGTON AND KEYHAVEN 

Lymington is a quaint market town located on the edge of the New Forest, with a large yachting and boating community. Take in the sights of Hurst Castle and Hurst Point Lighthouse located on the end of a unique coastal spit. The area is excellent for winter bird spotting and Keyhaven is a small village with a beautiful harbour. Work off all those festive treats with a scenic walk along the nature reserve and mudflats.

 

STUDLAND BAY

Visit this incredible national trust location and enjoy the wildlife and sand dunes of Studland Bay. With breathtaking views of Old Harry Rocks and beautiful beaches along the peninsula of south Purbeck. Featuring some wonderful hikes and walks there is also The Peter Rabbit Winter Trail running for the little ones!

BEAULIEU

Take a sail along Beaulieu River, explore the beautiful nature reserve and some stunning winter scenery. There are Christmas canoe paddles operating along the river this Christmas so you may even spot the big man himself! Stop for a festive tipple or some seasonal food at the historic Master Builder's riverside restaurant.

 COWES, ISLE OF WIGHT

Cowes is a pretty seaport town located on the west bank of the estuary of the River Medina. Why not stop by at the Folly Inn, an open plan, rustic pub perched right on the banks of the river for a bite to eat. Enjoy incredible waterside views of the historic Osborne House, a former seaside retreat for Queen Victoria. On the weekend of 26-27 December, they are hosting a festively-fun adventure quest.
